Micotil

Following changes in European legislation, Micotil prescribed after the 30 th July should be
administered by a veterinary surgeon only. Any Micotil already on the farm before the end of July
can be used until its expiry date or within 90 days of first opening the bottle.

Worming and Controlling Fluke at Housing

Closamectin Injection for cattle is a new product which kills roundworms, lungworks and aids in the
control of lice and mange. It also removes >90% of adult and late immature fluke and has a stunting
effect on early immature fluke down to 2 weeks of age. Any stunted flukes are infertile so this has
the added benefit of reducing pasture contamination.

Recently the effects of lungworm (coughing, respiratory disease) have been apparent in the area. It is better
that any lungworms are killed before housing to prevent pneumonia being triggered at or after housing.
Signs of pneumonia from lungworm can occur 10-30 days after infection has occurred, meaning that cattle
which appear healthy at housing can develop signs of pneumonia weeks after housing due to lungworm.
